New “Solstice EP” and summer plans.
Hey folks! (Important stuff! Please take a moment to skim! (TL;DR Version at the Bottom!))
So I just released an EP called “Solstice” (which you can find here) and I’d like to give you guys a bit of a heads up about what it is, why it is what it is and what this has to do with my fans on Youtube/Tumblr/Twitter, so let’s jump right in.
I have plans this summer, plans to go on a trip to visit an old friend of mine who moved away several years ago, now, being the broke person that I am, I’m having a hard time collecting the funds to go on said trip. So I got to thinking… “How can I make this kind of money before the end of July (which, by the way, is when the trip will be happening)?” Then I realized, “I have over 1500 subscribers on Youtube right now, perhaps they’d be able to help!” So I decided to make this EP to try and fund my summer trip.
The EP is composed of 3 songs:
- Moonlit (3:36)
- Overlook (3:13)
- Eventide (3:24)
It will cost $2 total, or if you just want one of the songs you can buy the individual tracks for $1 a piece. It will be sold via my Bandcamp page.
Since I started this project I knew I was going to be selling it, so I have made it a point to make these tracks the most professional sounding stuff I’ve ever created. No weird mastering and no piercing high end (I’m looking at you Bliss). Just clean high quality tracks for you to enjoy. Frankly I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve come up with for this and I really think you guys will enjoy it.
So hey, if you’ve got a buck sitting in your paypal account or just want to throw 2 bucks my way for the full thing it is all very much appreciated. Heck, if just 1/3rd of my current subscribers buy one track from this EP I’d have funded my entire trip! All money I earn from this is going towards my trip.
Oh! And as a little extra incentive, if I can fund my trip entirely through my music (so that would be sales from this EP and any other EP’s I release in the future with the goal of funding my trip) then I’ll be doing a fan requested remix! I’ll keep my tumblr and twitter followers up to date on progress and if I do reach my goal I’ll make a Youtube video about it, so don’t worry you’ll all know if I manage to reach my goal.
TL;DR VERSION: Trying to go on a trip this summer, decided to make and sell a new EP to help fund my trip (need about $500). If goal is reached by the end of July I’ll do a fan requested remix!
Thanks for taking the time to read this and spread the word (reblog, retweet, what have you)!

(I’ll be posting a video about all of this soon as well, I’ll link to it when the video goes up.)
I’m considering doing some streaming of a new track later.
If anyone would be interested let me know, I’ll probably stream whether anyone shows up or not, it’ll be at this channel:

I’ll be working on a track for the upcoming EP I’m working on.
I’ll make a new post on Tumblr and Twitter once I actually start, but I figured I’d give you guys a heads up at least.
Beginning work on a new MLP remix.
Well I’ve taken the first baby steps into remixing a track from the MLP finale. Not quite sure I want to say which one yet, because frankly that could change pretty quick, but I’m definitely getting some interesting results currently. Sorry I can’t be less vague, but I’m not totally happy with what I’m hearing yet, so I don’t want to say “I’ll be remixing this song” then decide to switch later on. Needless to say, I’m going to try my darnedest to get a good quality remix out to you guys as soon as I can.
*Mild Spoilers* Initial Reaction to the MLP Finale
There was just so much awesome in those episodes it blows my mind (Actual Fight Scene, Multiple Songs, Action Packed Moments). Were these episodes my favorites of the season? Nah I don’t think so (that title still goes to “A Friend in Deed”) but as a finale it was near perfect. Also, that villain song was totally amazing. I can’t promise any remixes of anything at the moment, but I am considering a few things. Stay tuned.
Two awesome things worth mentioning, this:

And This:

Portal Track Bandcamp Release!
For those of you that enjoyed my Ode to Portal 2 track I decided to upload it to Bandcamp for you. It is currently set on “pay whatever you want” mode so if you want it for free just enter “0” (zero) in the dollar amount.
Enjoy guys!
Ode to Portal 2 - daks
So many people seemed to enjoy that Portal 2 inspired track I created that I decided to make a full(er) version. I’m not super happy with how the second half of it turned out, but it’s okay I guess. I’m still mentally debating whether or not to officially release this thing. I don’t know if it’s quite up to my par of quality yet.
What do you guys think? Do you want to see a full Youtube/Bandcamp release of this track with a download, or should this just remain a little side thing for my Tumblr/Twitter followers to enjoy?
Played through Portal 2 all of yesterday, had Portal on the mind all day today so I ended up making this. Not sure what to do with it. Frankly I’m not sure if I’ll be able to turn it into a full-fledged track but we’ll see how things go.
One good thing that came out of this was that I got a chance to experiment with tempo automation in this one, I now realize there’s a reason not a lot of electronic music has big tempo changes, because it’s a pain in the butt to do even the simplest things (well, at least in Logic Pro it is).
